One of the most
enjoyable day trips from Bend, Crater Lake National Park is a must see
attraction. It’s hard to believe that one of the most interesting and
beautiful national parks is just a couple of hours drive south of Bend.
Once you leave Hwy 97, Hwy 138 winds steadily up to over 6000 feet where you find the crater that has become America’s deepest lake at over 1,900 feet deep.
When you reach the lake you will find a gift shop, snack bar and park personnel eager to help you enjoy your visit.
After you take in the unique beauty of the deep blue lake, you may want to walk down to the historic lodge by the lake (see photo below). Crater Lake Lodge is fresh from a $15 million renovation and provides full service accommodations and fine dining in their wonderful restaurant.
As you can see from the photos on this page, you will want to be sure and bring your camera on this trip.
